Why I built PrecordAI

I’m Mike Simon — firefighter, paramedic, former insurance agent, and the person behind PrecordAI.

In 2016, my family’s home caught fire. I’d responded to hundreds of 911 calls by that point in my career, but when it’s the house you grew up in, nothing prepares you for that. I stood there understanding exactly what the fire was doing, unable to change any of it.

What I wasn’t prepared for was what came after. My parents were left navigating an insurance claim process that felt designed to overwhelm — endless documentation, confusing requirements, and a system with very little compassion for people who had just lost everything.

That experience stayed with me. I went on to earn my insurance license because I needed to understand why the process was so broken from the inside. What I found confirmed what my family experienced — the system is stacked against the people it’s supposed to protect.
